STORY STRIP CONTEST GISBORNE CLUB AWARDS
The competition for last evening s meet’ng of the Gisborne Camel a Club.’ at which a good attendance m members was presided over by Mr. R. R. Baldrey, was for “story strip" entries. , . , The chairman, who acted as judge, stated that the entries comprised some of the best efforts of the year by club members. The awards were difficult to decide uoon, but had been made as follows:—!?: Dallas, 1: E. Glanville. 2; J. Hollamby, 3. ~ At the next fortnightly meeting, the competition will be for still life studies. . . It was announced that as the prints of the 1939 inter-club competition for the Bledisloe Cup were due to arrive on the .next meeting night, September 2(3, the lantern slide evening on that night would be postponed, to allow members full opportunity of inspecting the exhibition. The vice-president, Mr. I. J. Hill, suggested that to take advantage of the present good weather, a. club outing " should be arranged before the spring foliage had disappeared. Af.er discussion, it was decided to hold this on Sunday, September 24, and make it a family day at Waihirere, it being Dointed out that it was not. advisable to travel too far afield owing to the need of petrol conservation.
