GERMAN SERVICE CALL
LANDWEHR OBJECTION NATIONALS ABROAD NO RESPONSE BY JEWS (Reed. Sept. 14, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 13. A communique issued by the Ministry of Information states that Germany already has drafted men aged 41 to 55 years belonging to the landwehr class. These veterans are complaining that many younger men should be called up first. The landwehr is a second-line class primarily intended for homeland defence. it corresponds to the French Territorial Army. An Antwerp message states that notices have been posted at the German Consulate inviting doctors, enginers and ’technicians of “German nationality, regardless of race” to return immediately to the Reich. Complete repatriation and the return of confiscated fortunes is promised., No Jews so far have accepted.
