GIGS AND CARTS PREPARED

The members of St. Paul’s Guild, Motu, have decided to carry out cheir original plans for the forthcoming flower show. Many discarded gigs ancl carts are being renovated fjx use on the roads, and everyone is entering into the arrangements, which' have been revised, with cheerfulness and the spirit to serve. Party at Whakarau

Mrs. L. M. Davis, Whakarau, was hostess at a delightful party held at her home for her daughter, Helen, who was home for the school vacation. Coloured lanterns were used effectively on the wide verandahs, and the large drawing-room was cleared for dancing, bowls of violets and daphne being artistically arranged. During an interval in the dance programme, Mr. Bruce Clark sang two baritone solos.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. H. McLean, 'Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Davis, Mrs. E. Watton: Miss Pv. Cox (Gisborne); Misses N. Clark, M. Calcott, E. and M. McLean, D. Boys, R. Rowley, and C. Guthrie-Smith; Messrs. D. Smith, S. and J. Thompson, B. and H. Clark, J. Wells, R. and S. Davis, and R. McLean.

Mrs. H. Stevens, Hastings, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. H. C. Boys, VTotu.—Mr. and Mrs. F. Clark have taken up their residence in the Motu district, and were given a cheery welcome by a number of their young friends.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Barty, have returned from a tour in the north and are residing at “Waitangirua.” A surprise party welcomed them or, Saturday night, when the young people of Motu and visitors from Gisborne journeyed to Waitangirua. spending a very happy evening.
