SINKING OF MANAAR RAIDER’S DISAPPEARANCE (Reed. Scot. 11, 9 a.m.) ‘LONDON, Sept. 9. A report .from Lisbon says that Thomas Jones, petty officer in the Manaar, which was sunk by a submarine, said the men found themselves staring straight at the submarine while torpedo after torpedo hit the Manaar. It is thought that the fifth torpedo broke the vessel in half. Tire submarine then submerged.
