Dr. Hugh Dalton, Labour M.P., who was Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs in the last Labour Government, sneaking at his constituency of Bishop Auckland to-day, described the war as “for the defence of civilisation against Hitlerism.” ■ He continued: “History shows that in. war our country and our Allies may lose many battles, but we always win in the last. "These are early days, but our air force has made n magnificent beginning. They have* dropped a few heavy bombs on German battleships and millions of Irulht'uHenflets. on Hie German people. Above the war zones of Europe, witli her Allies, Britannia rules the clouds. “These are early days. Wo shall pass through great trials and tribulations, but the end is sure.”
Among the leaflets dropped in the remarkable "propaganda raids” by the Royal Air Force aircraft over Germany, were copies of the message oi the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, to the German peoplp.
