The shooting of the Marathon goalies was good, but clever intercepting on the part of the opposing defence prevented the visitors from taking the ball to the goal circle on many occasions. Misses Doreen Beer and Edna Fyson played an exceptionally good game in the centre, while in the goal and defence thirds Misses Noeiine Anseil and Thelma Young were prominent. Marathons gave of their best in the game against the Mission girls, I but the home side gained- the honours by 19 goals to 12. The match was keen and the visitors were . called upon to make strenuous efforts ! to intercept the ball on account of ! the rapid passing amongst their opponents. The half-time score was 8-7 in favour of the Mission team and in the second spell Marathon started well, Misses Shirley Hamilton and Myrtle Mclntosh each scoring a goal i in quick succession.
