PETROL REGULATIONS
AUCKLAND EXPLOITATION 3/- PER GALLON ASKED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Tlie relaxation of the petrol restrictions affecting private cars will serve to check profiteering by unlicensed persons, who had accumulated stocks. There has been a fair amount ot exploitation of the position in Auckland and petrol has been sold at high prices. In one instance, on Saturday, motorists were stopped on the Manukau road by a man who offered supplies at 3s per gallon. Since it has been emphasised that persons holding stocks of petrol possibly may make themselves liable under the Dangerous Explosives Act, large quantities of motor spirit accumulated by private individuals have been returned to oil companies.
