FIVE MEN FALL 50FT.

Five men, including a pedestrian, had a remarkable escape from injury when a motor car driven by Mr. P. 11. Weber, Waitara, in endeavouring to avoid the pedestrian, went over a 50l'oot bank into the Mountain Gorge. Mr. Weber swerved to the edge of the road, but the man on foot also moved in the same direction. Swerving out still further the car went over the bank, taking with it the pedestrian, whose coat-sleeve was caught on the running board. In the car with the driver were three other men, and when the vehicle came to rest at the bottom of the gully all of the occupants of the car as well as the pedestrian were found to have escaped injury of any kind.
