KEEN SALE FOR BEEF ADVANCE IN VALUES ADDINGTON MARKET (Pnr Press Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, this day. There were moderate increases in the fat sheep and fat cattle entries at Addington slock sale yesterday, but /in both cases these entries were substantially less than the weekly requirements. As a result, prices again increased. Less than 1000 head came forward in the store sheep pens. However, there was a definitely better tone in the market. A truck-lot of four and six-tooth Corriedale ewes, in lamb, made 2Cs; another truck-lot of two, four and six-tooths 225, a pen of sound-moutheds' 19s, and two-tooth ewc3 to 235. The entry of fat sheep was about 3700. Following the short entry a week ago, there was a jump of about 2s Gd a head for the best wethers and ewes. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 56s Id, prime heavy 43s to 475, prime medium 38s to 425, light to 325 ; extra prime heavy ewes to 50s 4d, prime heavy 36s 6d to 395, prime medium 31s to 355, light 23s to 26s Gd, .and store to 225. The entry of fat cattle was 364 against 330 last week. From the outset the sale was keen, prices advancing on the average lo 30s a head for better classes and 25s for secondary sorts. The best steer beef sold at about 50s to 54s per 1001 b. Extra prime heavy steers made to £23 2s Gd, prime heavy £l7 15s to £lB 15s, prime medium £ls 10s to £l7 15s, and light £lO 5s to £l2 ss; extra prime heifers made to £2l 17s Gd, prime £l2 10s to £l4 10s, medium £ll to £l2 ss, and light to £lO 10s; extra prime cows made to £lB 17s Gd, prime £ll 5s 1o £l3 ss, medium £9 5s to £ll, and light £6 to £8 10s. Prices for porkers were on a parity with the advanced rates of a week ago. Choppers came forward in medium numbers, but competition was scarcely as good as at some recent sales. Baconcrs came forward in medium numbers, the sale again being excellent. Porkers made from £2 4s Gd lo £3 5s Gd, the average price being 71,d to 8d per lb, and baconcrs £3 7s Gd to £5 9s Gd, the average price being 7d to 8d per lb. Choppers made from £3 8s lo £5 11s.
