BURGLED SHOP AFIRE
SAFE BLOWN OPEN SMOULDERING REM AINS (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, last night. A draper’s store owned by Mr. R. Magill Carlyle street, was practically gutted’by. fire as a result of burglars using explosives on the safe. Mattresses and pillows were left smouldering after the safe was blown open and caused the conflagration. The brigade had a three-hour fight before the blaze was subdued. Hundreds of pounds of stock were destroyed, while the building was damaged badly.
