JAPAN REMAINS NEUTRAL
GUARANTEE TO BRITAIN AMERICAN REPORT (Lino. To!. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 4. 11 a.m.) NEW YORK. Sept. 3. A New York wireless station reports lhat it intercepted a 8.8. C. announcement that Japan had guaranteed her neutrality to GreaL--Britain. A Tokio message states that the newspaper, A.sahi asserts that Japan will remain neutral in a European war because Germany signed the Soviet pact. POSITION IN CHINA (Reed. Sept. 4, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 3. The British United Press correspondent in Pekin says that in the indications of a resumption of the anti-British movement there, the Japanese spokesman said: —“If we Japanese and Chinese must force Britain to alter her hostile attitude and the move lakes a violent form, we must consider it a necessary evil.” A British soldier was arrested in the street for allegedly attacking several Japanese.
