SPORT AT KOPUAWHARA

SNOOKER AND BILLIARDS WAIKOKOPU DEFEATED (Herald Correspondent.) In a challenge match for the Riverhead gold cup, last Thursday night, Kopuawhara was successful in defeating the challengers from Waikokopu in the billiards and snooker tournament, the home side winning oil but one game. The scores in tire individual games were, Kopuawhara names being mentioned first: — Billiards. —Third 200 d. Brien 161; Kelby, sen., 200 d. Fletcher 198; Cumming 200 d. Ottaway 173; Dwyer 200, d. G. Foster 83.

Snooker.—Gater, 35, 27, v. Meha. 28, 54, one each; Kelly, 64, 53, d. Smith, 24, 41; Denton, 36, 40, d. Brown, 33, 25- Pemberton, 68, 54, d. Edwards, 24, 27.’ Table Tennis. At the usual weekly handicap table tennis tournament, Miss T. Pemberton, scr., d. Miss Kerr, 5 on, in the final, the score being 31—27. In the men’s section final, C. Burrows, 10 behind, d. P. Lattey, 15 on, 31—24! Basketball. The Kopuawhara ladies have been spending a fair amount of time on the basketball couvt of late, and there is a marked improvement in their play. To obtain practice, two games were played recently against a men’s team which was too strong for them, and the ladies suffered defeat by 12—4 and 21—5. Some brilliant defensive play by Miss R. Munro was a. feature of the games, while Miss A. Brodie, at goal, missed few opportunities of adding to the score. Miniature Rifles. This week's shoot saw the conclusion of the miniature rifles contest consisting of a series of three shoots for the McEnnis trophy. Again the ladies did well, and Mrs. J. Doyle proved to be the winner, closely followed by Mr. T Foley and Mrs. F. Pemberton. The detailed scores were as under, last week’s score being mentioned first and the total next: —Mrs. J.
