EVACUATION OF GERMANS
CONCESSIONS IN CHINA DEATH ROLL IN FLOODS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 28, 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 27. A report from Tokio states that German residents in the British and French concessions are being evacuated from Shameen to Canton before their departure by steamer., A report from Tientsin says that the floods are subsiding. German nationals are departing. A Pekin message says that Wang Keh Min, head of the provincial Government, after a tour of the flooded areas at Tientsin, said at least 1000 Chinese women and children were drowned and 600,000 had lost everything. He appealed for the burying of political differences while rescue operations were progressing.
According to a report from Hong Kong it is reliably stated that the Japanese Consulate assured the Government 'that the Japanese would not attack the city. The censorship has .been lifted and conditions are returning to normal, after the arrival of naval reinforcements.
