TASMAN CROSSED
ARRIVAL OF AOTEAROA EIGHT-HOUR FLIGHT WAIT AT AUCKLAND ■ ACTIVITY AT BASE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The flying-boat Aotearoa, for _ the Tasman service, arrived from 1 Sydney at 2.30 p.m., thus completing her delivery flight from England. The flying-boat took off from Rose Bay at 6.30 a.m. New Zealand time. Tasman Airways base was the scene of great activity all morning. The constant clicking of the teletype machine in an upstairs room: brought the latest news of the flight which was relayed from the Musick memorial radio station at Tamaki. On the high desks alongside men were working on huge coloured charts indicating the weather conditions and other details.
Shortly before 10 o’cloclc the final Inspection was made of the mooring, buoys by a party in the speedy control launches. Among those aboard were Group Qaptain .Wilkes and Mr. J. N. Greenland, general manager of the Union Steam Ship Company.
