Paris maintains an imperturbable calm but which does not conceal the arger over Russia’s duplicity, concerning which .the Petit Parisien says: "The betrayal is complete. The prophet of nan-Germanism and the double-dealer of Bolshevism are in league to-day like .two thieves, plotting for the next coup.”

The Paris newspapers agree that the crisis has entered its acutest phase and that Russia is blameabl© tor it.

The Paris police to-day confiscated the Communist newspaper Lc Soir, believed to be on account of its lauding of the Russian-German agreement. The French Communist Party is reported to be breaking up. Several of the leaders resigned alter the police occupation of the Le Soir building. The Communist headquarters were searched. The Paris corresDondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says that M. Laval has gone to Rome. It is surmised that he is opening up some sort of negotiations.
