CATTLE RATES ADVANCE.

FAT SHEEP IN DEMAND STORTFORD LODGE (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Quality was marked in a yarding of fat cattle at the Stortford Lodge stock sale yesterday when prices showed a substantial increase on last week. Ini some cases, ewes sold better than the best wethers. Ewe hoggets made the best selling in store pens, being almost the only line in which quality was marked. A few good lines of breeding ewes were on offer.

Store cattle met with a firmer demand following the improved quality of the yarding. Realisations were:— Fat cattle: Medium P.A. bullocks. £ll 10s to £l2 10s; P.A. heifers, tops £l3 2s Gd; average, £lO 5s to £l2 10s; lighten pens, £8 15s to £lO ss; cows, £lO to £l2 ss; medium sorts, £8 tc £9 10s; lighter, £6 to £7 10s. Store cattle.—Two-year steers in good order, £6 10s to £6 14s; threerear steers, £8 11s; yearling steers. £3 IT's; small yearling heifers, £1 11s. Fat Sheep—Wethers, tops, 2Gs 2d; medium sorts, 21s to 22s Gd; lighter pens, 18s to 19s; ewes, tops, 27s 3d; medium, 21s to 2Gs Id; lightest, 16s; hoggets, mainly light sorts, 13s to 15s; tops, 19s. *
