FRANKTON STOCK SALE
VALUES IMPROVE A larger yarding of fat sheep than, usual came forward at the weekly stock sale at Frankton e on Tuesday. There was a keen demand for all classes. Prices showed an improvement on last week. The top price 0f.34s was obtained for prime weithers. In the fat ewe section a buoyant sale resulted, with values up to 30s for prime ewes. Fat and tollable hoggets maintained laite rates, while a small offering of store sheep was cleared l at recent values. A full yarding of ox beef again came forward, the entry comprising good quality well-finished cattle, for which competition was very keen, values showing a marked improvement bn the last sale. A slightly .mailer offering of heifer -beef included many pens of well-finished cattle. Competition was particularly brisk and values were accordingly much higher than at the previous sale. Quotations: — Sheep.—Heavy prime fat wethers, 31s 9d to 345; medium, 27s to 29s Gd; light, 25s Cd to 26s 3d; unfinished, 19s (id to 23s 6d; heavy fat ewes, 25s 9d to 395; fat ewes, 20s Gd to 23s - Gd; tollable ewes, 14s Cd to 18s 6d; canner ewes, 8s to 11s; fat woolly hoggets, 22s to 24s>; lighter, 16s Cd' to 29s 6d; cull ewes, 5s Gd to 7s. Cattle.—Extra heavy prime steers to £ls 10s; heavy prime steers, £l3 15s to £l4 12s Gd; medium, £l3 5s to £l3 7s Gd; extra heavy prime Polled Angus heifers, £l2 to £l2 17s Gd; heavy prime Polled Angus heifers, £ll 4s to £ll 10s; light fat Jersey heifers, £5 10s to £5 19s; fat Jersey cows, £5 to £5 9s; heavy boner cows, £4 2s to £4 16s; medium, £3 Is to £3 17s Gd; light, £2 2s to £2 17s.
