(Ppv Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A scarcity of mutton at. the weekly stock market at Addington yesterday caused a sharp advance in values of 2s to 2s Gd a head over the final stages. The store sheep entry numbered about 3000. A truck-lot of Romney hoggets sold at 25s Bd, half bred ewe hoggets at 225, medium 13s to 18s, and rough down to 7s, the best ewes and lamibs 11s.

The en'ry of fat sheep totalled about 4000, compared with 0750 last week. The sale from the outset was firm and at the last two races there was a sharp jump, the sale being one of the best this season. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 40s Id, prime heavy 32s to 355, prime medium 27s Gd to 31s, and light to 23s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes made to 34s lOd, prime heavy 28s Gd to 31s Gd, prime medium 25s to 28s, and light to 20s. Fat cattle numbered 408, compared with SGG a week ago. The market opened a little better than the average rates of last week, but eased later. On the'whole values were little different from a week ago, though old cows met with a weaker sale. Extra prime heavy steers made to £2O 17s Gd, prime heavy £ls 10s to £l6 15s, prime medium £l3 10s to £ls ss, and light to £lO ss; extra prime heifers made to £l3 17s Gd, prime £lO 10s to £l2, medium £9 to £lO ss, and light to £8 10s; extra prime cows to £ls 17s Gd, prime £9 5s to £ll ss, medium £6 15s to £8 10s, and light to £6 10s. The yarding of porkers was of medium size and values were mtich the same as last week. Choppers were in medium supply, and again met with excellent competition. Baconers came forward in medium number, and the prices were Hie best for a considerable period, competition being assisted by outside buyers. Porkers made from 37s Gd to 59s Gd, the average price being 7d to 71d per lb.; ibaeoners, £3 5s Gd to £5 Is Gd, the average price being 6|d to per lb., and choppers £3 11s to £6 18s Gd.
