In the first round of the American doubles championship, A. K. Quist and J. Bromwich (Australia) defeated Hunt and Sutter by default. J. H. Crawford and H. Hopman (Australia) defeated the local pair, Drake and Mclntyre, G—2, G—2, G—3.

Bromwich, after a practice, stated he felt he was starting on his way back now. ‘T sort of lost my touch for a while,” he added. Observers considered that he was hitting better to-day.
