SUDDEN DEATH

MR. HARRY COOPER GO YEARS IN THE BAY a resident of Palutahi, Mr. Harry Cooper, who had) lived for 60 years in the Gisborne district, died suddenly yesterday at the home of his daughter, iMrs. John Morrow, Patutahi. Mr. Cooper, who had reached the age of 73 years, had' been ill for the past four weeks, but his death came as a shock to his relatives and friends. Bom in Dunedin, Mr. Cooper came to Gisborne at the age of 13, and had resided here ever since. In his younger days he was a coach driver and iater was the licensee of _ the Waerenga-o-kuri Hotel on two different occasions and also had charge of the Matawhero Hotel for a period. He was a popular member of the community.

Mr. Cooper was married at the age of 27 to Miss Roberta Torr in. Wairoa, and was predeceased by his wife by 12 vears. There remain four sons and.' three daughters to mourn their loss—Mr. Cyril Cooper, Auckland, Mr. Albert Cooper, Rere, Mr. Walter Cooper, Wairoa, and Mr. Frank Cooper, Waerenga-o-kuri, Mrs. John Morrow, Patutahi, Mrs. George Harvey, Opotiki, and) Miss E. Cooper, Patutahi. There are 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. M. Goldsmith, Gisborne, is a sister of the deceased.

A service will be held in the Patutahi Anglican Church at 1.45 p.m. tomorrow, prior 'to the departure of the funeral for the Patutahi cemetery.
