The referee will be Mr. Holcombe Ward, the president of the United States Lawn Tennis Association. Nodarse is suffering from a sore arm so Aguero may replace him in the doubles. Quist is much better and will practice to-morrow. At the Rye tennis tournament an important upset occurred when Kamrath defeated Cooke, I—o, 7—5, 6—4, this seriously impairing Cooke's chances of selection for the American Davis Cup team. Riggs defeated Murphy of Chicago, 4—6, 6—2, 10—8.
