Y.M.C.A. BELOW FORM

Foresters A 4 goals Y.M.C.A. ... 0

Y.M.C.A. were definitely below form on Saturday when-they met Foresters A, whose speed and combination were big factors in their success by four goals to nil.

Watchman and Wheatley combined exceptionally well in the Foresters’ forwards, while Swan also played a good game on the right wing. Watchman scored two of the goals, and Wheatley and Swan one each. All four came from breakaways, and Swan’s was a particularly good shot from within a few feet of the back line.

Le Bas played one of his best games in the Foresters’ halves, and was seldom seen to better advantage, while Stacey’s full-back display was a highlight of the match. On his form on Saturday, Stacey must receive consideration in the selection of the Poverty Bay representative team.

Few of the Y.M.C.A. players were on form, but Keith Harrison was the most consistent of the forwards. Nicol, in the halves, was one of the few who was up to his usual standard', and, in fact, he has seldom given a better display this season. The fullbacks also were below par, with Scholium slightly the better. Although Y.M.C.A. had the early advantage, it was not long before Foresters asserted their strength, and half-time came with them in the lead by two-nil, a further brace being added in the second spell, the fourth coming a few minutes before the final whistle.
