COMPETITION GAM ES

(Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day

Playing in the ladies’ section of the Wairoa Hockey Association’s competition matches on Saturday, Old Giris 1 drew with Tapuae 1, after a close and interesting game. The defence of both sides was exceptionally good, the score being a fair indication of the merits of the two teams. For Old Girls, Mrs. G. Single shot the only goal, while Tapuae’s goal was netted by Miss M. Konuke.

In the other ladies’ fixture played, Kahungunu 15 defeated Mahia nil. Kahunguini won comfortably and would have increased their lead but for the outstanding play of Miss TVI. McKay, of Mahia, who gave a good exhibition on defence. Goals for the winners were shot by Miss V. Wairoa 1, Miss S. Keefe 2, Miss E. Huata 1. and Mrs. King 1.
