AVOIDING FOOT FAULT AMERICAN CONDITIONS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 4, 9 a.rn.) PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 3. The Australian Davis Cup tennis players, Quist and Crawford, played a practice match to-d-ay at Philadelphia, where observers who saw Quist in the challenge round o-f 1938 commented on his new service style and freedom from footfaults. “I have been- practising keeping by foot solidly on the ground in order to conform to the American interpretation of the service rule,” said Quist, "I now believe I can serve without violation of the footfault rule.”
