WIDESPREAD SYMPATHY
MR. SAVAGE’S ILLNESS WESTMINSTER MESSAG E (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Many hundreds of messages, including one from the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, were received toy .the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, yesterday. They came from all parts of the Dominion and the Empire, and all expressed sympathy with Mr. Savage and the hope he would have a rapid and complete recovery. Mr. Chamberlain's was one of the first messages ito arrive, and 1 it Offered Mr. Savage, on behalf of Mr. Chamberlain and his colleagues, their sympathy in his illness, and expressed the hope for his speedy recovery. Similar messages were received from 'the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, Ithe High Commissioner, Mr, 'W. J. Jordan, and the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone. Messages continued to pour in all day and, an addition, the Prime Minister’s Department was inundated with inquiries by telephone from people in all -walks of life.
