INCREASED KILLINGS
HAITI FREEZING WORKS PAST SEASON'S TALLIES Killings at the Haiti freezing works this season showed an increase for sheep, lambs and calves, a slight decrease for cattle and a substantial decline in pigs. Figures up' to the end of July show that 31,000 more sheep were slaughtered than last year, and the increase in lambs was 3500, while the calves killed increased by 2000. The decline in cattle was only 260, but pigs de< creased by nearly 3000. The tallies for the past andi pre j vious seasons are given below:—
For some time during the season, the lamb killings lagged l behind those of 1937-38, but increased towards the close, particularly during June, the figures for which were double those of June last year.
