AMERICAN DOUBLES SEEDED PAIR BEATEN (Rccd. Aug. 3, 2.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 2. In the Southampton tennis 'tourney two comparatively unknown players, Bickel and Wachman, both of Chicago, eliminated the top seeded doubles players, Wood and Hunt, 3 —C, G —3, 6—2. Quist and Crawford (Australia) did not participate in the tournament, having failed to receive permission from the player manager. I-lopm-an. Instead they visited Philadelphia and inspected the courts of the Morion Cricket Club where the Davis Cup challenge round may .be played.
