MOTOR TORPEDO BOAT

CREW OF SIX ONLY DISPLACEMENT 30 TONS (British Oflicinl Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, July 29. Further details are announced concerning the new motor torpedo boat, specially adapted to Dominion coastal defence, which was put through official trials in Southampton waters on Friday, covering a measured mile at 40.5 knots, claimed to be a record for this type of craft. The vessel carries a crew of only six. Her beam is 15ft. and her length is 65ft.. She has a displacement of 30 tons. A feature of the design in which she differs from similar craft already in the service is the provision of two propellers, instead of three.
