SHORTAGE OF PILOTS
IMPERIAL AIRWAYS AUSTRALIANS ENG AGED (Reed. July 31, 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 29. To overcome the scarcity of pilots to man its enlarged fleet. Imperial Airways invited applications from the Dominions and selected 10 Canadians and six Australians. The latter are: Messrs. K. D. Garden, J. N. Weir, N. G. Henderson, K. G. Erwin, of New South Wales; C. Gatenby, of Melbourne, and R. B. Anderson, of Ballarat. They will undergo a six months’ course before being appointed first officers in charge of Imperial Airways’ flying-boats.
