OVER-CAUTIOUS DRIVER
TITLED WOMAN FINED LONDON, June 18. When Lady Alness—wife of the chairman of the peers’ Select Committee on Road Accidents—was accused at Chertscy, Surrey, yesterday, of dangerous driving, Mr. A. J. llardwickc said on her behalf:— “Lady Alness stopped at the entrance to a main road to allow a car from her right to go by. Then, thinking she had time lo cross before another car, she started up. “She went slowly and the collision resulted. The accident was due to an excess of care on Lady Alness’ part, as she did not go fast enough.”/ Lady Alness, said to have driven 1 100,000 miles in sixteen years without an accident, was fined £3. with £2 costs. Her license was endorsed. |
