Department in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The pedestrian concerned was Hans Andersen, a middle-aged man, who admitted a charge of failing to cross file street tit right angles. In prosecuting, .Mr. C. Bland, city Unitie superintendent, said the offence occurred at 8.40 a.m. on June 23. The defendant crossed Queen street" diagonally at the Customs street intersoctii n. A traffic oflicer on point duty spoke to the defendant and warned him of his action.
•‘Apparently the defendant did not take the matter seriously,” added Air. Bland, "lie told the officer ho'could have his name whenever he wanted it. so the oflicer took it. The wanting was not accepted in the spirit in which it was offered.” The defendant said lie had no intention of ignoring the traffic regulations; in fact, lie never gave the matter thought. "If was your attitude toward tic traffic officer that caused the trouble,” said Mr. T'. H. Levien, S.M. "You should have spoken to him in a decent sort of way and not sharply. Traffic officers at busy intersections deserve some courtesy. The defendant, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s.
