CONFLICT AT SHANGHAI
FOURTH ROUTE ARMY SUBURBS PENETRATED (Reed. July 24, 3 p.m.) SHANGHAI, July 23. Three thousand troops of the "Chinese Fourth Route Army to-day penetrated the western suburbs of Shanghai outside the British-manned perimeter of the International Settlement and engaged the Japanese. The battle is proceeding.
