GERMAN NAVAL PLAN
SERVICING SUBMARINES SEAGOING DEPOT SHIPS LONDON, July G. A German plan to overcome her deficiency in overseas naval bases is described by Lieutenant-Commander Edwards, naval correspondent of the Sunday Times. He says she is providing a number of sea-going depot ships that will enable submarines to operate on trade routes outside the North Sea. German shipyards are not able to undertake the building of depot ships without slowing down warship building, and, therefore, the German Admiralty has taken over a number of merchantmen. She already has 10 depot ships and it is known that seven others are projected.
Britain has eight and five more are either being constructed or projected.
