TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY

PARTY AT TAKATA A very successful twenty-first birthday party was held recently in the Pikitanga meeting house, Tokata, to celebrate the coming-of-age of Miss Tuhi (Baby) Kupa. Eighty visitors were present, a number coming from Raukokore, Hicks Bay and Maungairoa. An excellent repast was provided for the visitors, and Miss Kupa received many beautiful presents. During the evening speeches were made by Mrs. Kingi Kupa. Mrs. Parapara, sen., Mr. Roy Gasson, the Tokata schoolmaster, and Major R. Prowse, officer in charge of the Salvation Army Maori mission work in the district. . The children present entertained the visitors with a number of action songs and choruses.
