At the Wimbledon tennis championships, in the final of the men’s singles, Riggs' defeated Cooke, 2—o, B—o. 3—o G-3 G —-2. Cooke led 4-1 in the second set, and then Riggs made nn amazing recovery, but it was a generally disappointing match and there was little enthusiasm. In the women’s douoles, fourth round, Miss K. Stammers and Mrs Hammersley defeated Miss Harvey and Mrs. King, o—l, 4—6, 6—2. In the semi-final. Mrs. Fabyan and Miss Marble defeated Miss Stammers arm Mrs. Hammersley. 8 —6,0 3. In the men’s doubles semi-final. Hu e and Wilde defeated S'hayes and Oliit, ' 6 —2, 6—4, 6 —4. In ( the corribined dou'bles, fifth round, Malfroy and Miss B. Nuthall defeated Geelhand and Mrs. Meulcmecster, 0 3. 2—6, 6—4; Riggs and Miss Marble_ defeated Jones ar.d Miss Harvey. 6 7, 6—l, 6 —3. In the semi-finals, Cooke and Mrs. Fabyan defeated Russell and Mrs. Hammersley, 7—5, 3 —o, G —3: Riggs and Miss’ A. Marble defeated Malfroy and Miss B. Nuthall, 3—o, G —2, G—4.
