WORLD'S LARGEST SHIP
LINER QUEEN ELIZABETH ..MAIDEN' TRIP NEXT APRIL Advice has -been received in Auckland that the giant liner Queen Elizabeth will make her maiden voyage from Southampton to .Mow York on April 24 'next year. She will sail from New York on the return iournc-v on May 3. The Queen Elizabeth, ra 85.000 tons gross, is the largest ship in the world. She was launched from the Clydebank yards of Messrs. Joan Brown avid• Company last .September. Although nominally a sister ship of the. Queen' Mary, the now liner 1 would mere correctly be described ns a companion vessel. The experience gamed by the owners with the running of the Queen Mary and the.great progress made by naval architecture in the past' four years are strikingly demonstrated Av differences between the two ships. One of the most 'noticeable differences externally is that the Queen Elizabeth has only two funnels, compared with the three in the earlier vessel. This change will mean a much more generomr allow'Dac'e"' cf deck space and promenades, as well as greater passenger accommodations
