VISIT OF WAIROA TEAM HOME SIDE WINS, 14—7 A keen display of basketball was witnessed on the Ayton House courts on Saturday afternoon, when a match was played between Gisborne _ High School representatives and a visiting team from the Wairoa District High School. The home side proved the winners by 14 goals to seven. The girls who took part were: — Gisborne. Kathleen Henderson, Gwen Chamberlain, Betty Heaslip, captain, Marjorie Young, Jean Park, Mary Appleby, Trixie Bavliss, Dora McAneney, and Betty Campbell. Wairoa. —O. Lambert, captain, N. Marshall, N. Highet, T. Beckett, M. Packwood, ,T. Marshall, B. Gordon. O. Harvey, J. Edwards and S. Moloney. The game was in the nature of a return match, for last season the Gisborne High School team journeyed to Wairoa and suffered a defeat by one goal.

MATAAYAI GAMES (Herald Correspondent.) Tui and Motu basketball girls were the guests of the Matawai girls on Saturday, when two enjoyable games were played. Tuis played Mci.u in the first game, the score being Tuis 19, Motu 10. In the -second game Tuis were again victorious by 19 to 8. Motu schoolgirls played Koranga the score being Motu 4. Koranga 3. Afternoon tea was dispensed to players and onlookers. The teams were ' entertained at a dance in the evening.
