ATTITUDE UNCHANGED PROPOSALS BY STATE SOCIAL SECURITY SERVICE FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS (Per Press Association.! 'WELLINGTON, this day. The following statement was made last night by'Dr. J. P. S. Jamieson, the chairman of t'he national health insurance committee of the New Zealand ibrandh of the (British Medical Association, after a meeting of the council of the branch yesterday: — “The council reaffirmed that the attitude of ‘the profession in regard to t'he Government proposals 'is unchanged, despite unauthorised statements to the contrary. Certain proposals were discussed by the council and the executive of the association was authorised to interview the Minister and discuss the proposals in detail. There, were matters in the proposals which required further discussion, and while .this 'is taking place any public reference to details, k inopportune."
Dr. Jamieson issued a warning in regard to recently-published statements as to the association's attitude. “The association from tome to time issues for the information of the public statements which 'have the authority of the profession,” : he said. "It is to be greatly regretted that a misconception has arisen through the publication of a statement whichyw-as neither informative, accurate nor authoritative. Statements which do not bear the official authority of the association are not nvorthy of credence.”
■Beyond t'he statement that further negotiations with t'he Minister were in prospect, Dr. Jamieson said he had nothing further to add.
