WELLINGTON WEDDING
ALLEN—LYONS GISBORNE BRIDEGROOM At the Holy Name Church, Island Bay, Wellington, recently Margaret Ellen, eldest daughter of Mns. C. M. Lyons and the late Mr. J. J. Lyons, Island Bay, was married to Jack Selwyn, third son of Mrs. A. Allen and the Late Mr. L. C. Allen, Gisborne. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father (McGrath, ahd nuptial mass was celebrated. The Children of Mary formed a guard of honour, and during mass sang appropriate hymns. The brine, who was escorted by her eldest brother, Mr. J. Lyons, wore a blue mantle over her gown of pearl slipper satin, the .bodice with its heart-shaped neckline being softly ruched and finished with clusters ot orange blossom. The Kong sfeeives which were pleated at the shoulders fitted tightly at the wrists and pointed over her hands. The skirt which formed a long train was ruched to form three large scollops and was trimmed with orange blott-om
Tihe bride’s fine tulle veil, which was worn over the face car entering the church, billowed trom a cluster of cream orchids to form a second train. She carried a sheaf of white gladioli and maidenhair fern. Her only ornament was a small pearl cross, the. gift of the bridegroom. The three bridesmaids, the Misses Sheila • and Doreen Lyons, sisters of the bride, and Miss Kathleen Sharp, a cousin, wore frocks of cream ripple chiffon with heart-shaped necklines, the bodices being tucked on the shoulders. Mr. Cleve Aillen, Gisborne, attended his brother as best man, and the altar boys were Masters Joseph and Patrick Lyons, brothers of the bride. The ushers were Mr. Phillip Eton and Messrs. William Hayes and James Lyons, cousin and brother of the bride.
As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with two horseshoes by Eileen Sharp, her cousin, and Margaret Boyes. The bride’s mother, assisted by Mrs. Allen, received the guests at the Masonic Hall, Berhampore In the evening Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Allen left for their honeymoon, the bride wearing a moss green English worsted coat over a navy frock, a brown (stole, and navy accessories. Mr. and Mrs, J. S. Allen will make their future home in Gisborne.
