THE RABBIT PEST

DEALING WITH PROBLEM NEW METHOD OF CONTROL A comprehensive scheme for the handling of the rabbit pest problem in Central Otago on an all-the-year-round contract price basis is shortly to receive the consideration of the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C, Webb. It has already been discussed with the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, and the preliminary indications are that it has every likelihood of being adopted. The essence of the scheme, according to the sponsor, Mr. T. A. White. Government placement officer in Dunedin, is that the Government should offer a contract price per hundred rabbits all the year round, the work to begin in early spring and be continued right through the winter, with the main offensive during the breeding season, from September 1 to May 31.
