NEWTOWN LOCAL OPTION PETITION.

[PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Jan 29. The Newtown local option enquiry was continued to-day. Mr Skerrett, ior the petitioners applied to be a'lowed to call the Clerk of the Court to produce the voting papers, and asked that a scrutiny be he!d fo: the purpose of striking off the votes of those found to bo illegally on the roll. Subject to this scrutiny he closed his case. Argument on the point is prosoeding.
