Dunedin, This Day. On Friday a publican was charged at Gore with supplying wh’sksy 55 degrees under proof. .Defendant pleaded “Guilty” and said that he had a special bottle of whiskey diluted with water which he kept for personal consumption when drinking with customers. He had left hia wife in the bar for a time, and she had moved his bottle, and placed it on a shelf where the ordinary whiskey was kept. When the police came in defendant had returned to the bar and did not notice his private blend had been misplaced. When the sergeant asked for whiskey he took up this bottle, and supplied him from it in mistake. He was fined 5* and costs.
Yesterday the Health Officer was in* specting the sites for the consumptive sanatorium near Dunedin. There are several places under offer. The hearing of the petition to upset the local option vote at Waikouaitl has been adjourned till the 18th February.
The Oaversham Council decline to accede to the request of the Health Officer to co-operate with the City Council in providing and maintaining a permanent fever hospital.
