3 he Howling Tournament. Palmerston North, Jan 16. The Bowling Tournament was continued to-day in dull weather with one or two very light showers. All interest in the two final matches was centred in the matches in which Newmarket and Palmerston wore engaged in, both teams leading in their sections, the former having -one more win to its credit than the latter. Contrary to expectations, Newmarket went down to New Plymouth by a bare point, but in the last round they defeated the I,Victoria club, Wellington, with 15 points to spare. Palmerston won both it games, defeating Wanganui and Dannovirke each by a narrow margin of 3. This brought both teams equal in wins. The final was one of the most exciting contests of the Tournament. Up to about half way through the game it was a ding donglgo for a while, and the excitement was intense. Once Palmerston obtained the lead they were not seriously troubled, winning by 27 to 15.
