THE PERSIAN GULF TROUBLE.
[pee PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.]
London, Dec 21. Mabaroukh, the Sheik of Koweyc has been summoned to Constantinople to make obeisance to the Sultan.
The Saltan’s emissary was not allowed to land at Loweyt. Iburaschid, the Ameer of Nejd, at Turkey’s instigations, collected his army. Mabaroukh has appealed to the British for protection and offered to abdicate in favor of bis son. The British cruiser Fommono and the gunboat Bedbreost are at Koweyt, also the Bussian cruiser Voryag. The splendid appearance of the latter created a great impression. Commander of Voryog visited the Sultan at Muscat.
The Russian doctors inquired regarding the healthiness of Ormuz and Kisain, The Times insists on the necessity of drastic steps to enforce the status quo in the Persian Gulf or, if opposed, sweeping away the Sultan of Turkey’s shadowy suzerainty.
