The report of the directors of the Gear Meat Company for the year to November 30th shows an available balance of the profit and loss account of £11,435 18s 3d, which it was recommended should be appropriated in the piyment of a dividend, of 6i per cent on the paid-up capital, £5,460 to be carried forward. Ihe Striking of the Kotuku. A magisterial inquiry was held to-day into the jircumstances connected with the striking of the Kotuku between Jackson Head and Walker Eock. Captain Kennedy stated that he had often taken the passage before. Tides in the neighborhood were erratic, and after his recent experience he would not recommend boats steaming less than 10 knots to attempt the pass. In this instance the Kotuku was carried bodily by the tide on to the rock, where she remained three and a-half hours. The Court will give its decision on Thursday. The Arbitration Court. Wanganui, Dec 9. The Arbitration Court commenced its sittings here to-day. Evidence was taken in the following disputes: - Timber tradp, furnimre-makers, bookbinders, painters, and decorators.
