New Parliamentary Seats

Authority is given for tho statement that the Representation Commission to allot the seats allowed by the "Representation Act, 1900," will not assemble until early next year.
A Shocking Accident. A Waihi contractor named Marshall, employed in the Waihi Company's mine had bis arm knoeked out by an explosion of gelignite.
Charge of Garrotting. Chbistchubch, Dec 3
Two men named Walsh, and Smith, were remanded to-day on a charge of garrotting and robbing a man in Madras Street last night. The Discovery. The Antarctic vessel Discovery was placed in dock at Lyttelton to-day for cleaning and recaulking. As the vessel can take only 50 of the 250 sheep offered a ballot was taken to-day among the contributors, and 12 to supply 5 sheep each were seleoted. The Waimate on Fire. A telephone message was received from Napier early this morning stating that the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer "Waimate" was on fire in the roadstead. The fire brigade went out in the tug to render assistance. Rifle Association Meetings. Wellington, This Day, - Colonels Somerville and Collins who have managed the affairs of late New Zealand Rifle Association since 1885 have been requested by the Government to occupy their old positions as chief executive officers in the management of meetings under the Government auspices. Fiji's Chief Justice. Sir Henry Berkeley, Chief Justice at Fiji, arrived from Sydney by the Warrimoo this morning. Royal Tar Enquiry. Auckland, This Day. At tho Ministerial enquiry into the Royal Tar wreck Captain Morrison said he was on the deck till midnight, F. Bandsom was at the wheel, and a man was on the look out when the vessel struck. Witness was not on deck till after the vessel struck. He left Boatswain Hunt in charge when he occasionally went below after midnight. When asked if there was no certificated officer on deck to see that the course was kept, witness said the boatswain was competent enough to do so.
