Despite Barton’s announcement that no more contingents were to be sent to South Africa several state commandants have been unofficially endeavouring to obtain a reconsideration of the matter. The South Australian Commandant suggests that a thousand men be offered on behalf of the Commonwealth. The feeling of the Commonwealth authorities is unfavorable to sending.
