NOTES FROM DUNEDIN.

The Aftermath of Dredging Boom. (OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Dunedin, Nov 14tb. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Edward Trythall, a sharebroker, was held this afternoon. The estate showed an estimated deficiency of £777. The bankrupts statements was to the effect that his failure was due to the fact that one of his clients for whom be had bought shares to the value of nearly £SOO could not pay him, and that two other clients for whom he had purchased shares to the value of nearly £9OO absconded without paying up. He also attributed his failure to the depression in the money market, the drop in price of shares and the general dearth of business. The creditors sympathised with the bankrupt in his misfortunes and decided to recommend him for his immediate discharge. Measles. Measles are rife in Dunedin and suburbs. At one school to-day sixty children were absent from the infant class alone from this cause. A Knotty Question. “Is a manure mixing machine a machine for agricultural purposes ?” This is a problem which Mr Justice Williams is now attempting to solve. Messrs Nimmo and Blair assert that it is and demand from the Customs Department a refund of the £55 odd paid as duty. The Department claim that such a machine is not a farmer’s but a trader’s machine and is not used in connection with tillage.
