The Englishmen made a poor stand at the wickets the innings closing for 118 ruus, as follows : Gunn 21, Braund 7, M’Laren 3, Quaife 28, Hayward 1, Tyldesley 4, Jessop 38, Jones 0, Lilley 2, Barnes (not out) 8, Blythe 0, sundries 6. Total 118. Bowling analysis—Giffen 7 for 46, Jones 2 for 41, Travers 1 for 14.
South Australia 2nd innings—Jarvis 7, Hack 41, Hill 80, Leak 11, Reedman (not out) 25, Giffen (not out) 3. sundries 3. Total for 4 wickets 170.
The batting of the English team was slow and uninteresting. Hack and Hill for South Australia gave a good exhibition of the game. As South Australia made 230 in the first innings and 170 with four wickets the Englishmen require 288 to come up to the score as it now stands,
