IMPORTANT LICENSING CASE.
Strong Comment upon a Minister of the Crown.
(pee press association)
Wellington, This Day. Judge Conolly gave his judgment today on the motion argued at New Plymouth for remand into tho Supreme Cour'/ of tho application for a license for the hotel Commonwealth.
His Honour in reviewing tho caso expressed surprise that the Minister of Justice should have treated seriously the anonymous letter making insinuations against tho magistrate (Mr Stanford) instead of consigning it to the waste paper basket. It was plain that Mr Stanford had no interest in the matter as insinuated in the present application, which was quite uncalled for, and boro strong indications of being actuated by malice. The motion would be dismissed with JBSO costs. Execution was stayed for a month to enable tho losing side to consider whether they will appeal.
